Professional Bio

Josef "Polo" Danczuk is from the small town of Durham, CT. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 2015 with degrees in political science and history. Josef commissioned via ROTC as a Regular Army ADA officer. After graduating ADA BOLC at Fort Sill, he was stationed in A Battery, 5-7 ADA (Patriot) in Baumholder, Germany. He served as a Launcher Platoon Leader and then a Tactical Director in Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 5-7 ADA.

Josef transitioned to the New York Army National Guard in 2020 as an Assistant Air and Missile Defense Operations Officer in the 53d Digital Liaision Detachment. He mobilized to Washington, D.C. in January 2021 for security operations for the Capitol and the Presidential Inauguration. Josef commanded the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, from 2022 to 2024. He then deployed to Kuwait in 2025 with the Headquarters, 42d Infantry Division, as the TF Spartan Chief of AMD Operations. His military education includes ADA BOLC, Patriot Top Gun, the ADA Fire Control Officer (ADAFCO) Course, and Adjutant General Captains' Career Course.

In his civilian career, Josef graduated with his J.D. from Columbia Law School. He is an Associate Attorney with Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York. Josef lives in New Jersey with his wife, Christina, and daughters Emelia and Ingrid. He actively publishes scholarly articles on air defense and national security law.
