Summary of Service
Captain Edward A. Kramer, a native of Quitman, Mississippi, enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard 23 March 2018 as a 09S Officer Candidate. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Federal Officer Candidate School at Fort Moore, Georgia. He earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant in Fall 2018 and was assigned to Charlie Battery, 1-204th Air Defense Artillery as a 14A Air Defense Officer.

CPT Kramer deployed to Europe in 2020 in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve and the European Deterrence Initiative working as an Avenger Platoon Leader, and has participated in multiple combat readiness exercises at locations including the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany, where he served as a Platoon Leader; the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Johnson, Louisiana, where he served as Battery Executive Officer; and the Gulfport Combat Readiness Training Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, where he served on the E3 Ground Administration Team during Southern Strike 2023.
CPT Kramer’s goals as an Air Defense Officer are to educate supported units in the tactical employment of air defense assets, stress the importance of communications systems to the air defense mission set, and develop strong leaders and citizens. He chose to attend the Signal Captain’s Career Course to better support the data and communications elements of the Air Defense mission set.
