Professional Bio
Bruce Peters, Ph.D. joined Torch Technologies in 2017 bringing his 40 years of programmatic, technical, and managerial experience working in the Huntsville Defense and Aerospace Industry to focus on providing products and professional engineering services to partner with the Government to deliver innovative solutions that solve our customer’s most complex problems. Dr. Peters is a Senior Member of the Technical Staff supporting PEO Missiles and Space by integrating Science and Technology (S&T) investments into weapon and sensor systems that will ultimately transition into Programs of Record. He also supports Torch new business development activities, develops, and contributes to proposal activities, and manages the Torch funded Internal Research and Development (IRAD) Program. Since arriving in Huntsville Alabama in 1985, he has supported customers at the Army, Air Force, MDA, SMDC, and NASA in a variety of technical roles including as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for space systems, mechanical analysis, and optomechanical engineering. He has managed a multi-disciplined Advanced Concepts Team responsible for developing, testing, and fielding EOD robots, miniature interceptor hit-to-kill vehicles, and a variety of optical sensors and telescopes. Dr. Peters received his Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering in Applied Optics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) in 1990. He has taught at the graduate and undergraduate level, holds three patents, has received the NASA MSFC Technology Transfer Award, and has authored numerous technical papers and presentations on a variety of topics in optics, robotics, missile defense, and systems engineering. Dr. Peters serves as the Torch representative on the INCOSE Corporate Advisory Board, the UAH Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Industrial Advisory Board, and is a member of NDIA.
