Professional Bio

Melita Simley (Mullins) was commissioned as an Air Defense Artillery Officer on 13 May 1995. Her first assignment was Fort Knox, KY as a JROTC instructor. Upon completion, she attended the ADA Officer Basic Course at Fort Bliss, TX where she graduated as the honor graduate. She then attended Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA and received her wings on 30 May 1996. Her next assignment was 69th ADA BDE in Ansbach Germany. During this assignment, she received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and supported Operation Desert Tempest, Operation Desert Falcon, and Operation Northern Watch. On 1 July 1999 she was promoted to Captain. She graduated from CCC as the honor graduate and was then selected as an ADA Basic Course mentor. She resigned her commission in 2000. In 2007, she married, at the time LTC Michael Simley and embraced the role of volunteer spouse. As the Air Defense Artillery Branch moved to Fort Sill, OK in 2009, she volunteered in BN and BDE FRG positions, lead initiatives with Spouse Development and continued to support the Lawton/ Fort Sill Community. She has served as the Volunteer Executive Director for the Air Defense Artillery Association since 2021.
